Troi — Refund & Cancellation Policy

Draft pending attorney review. This is a usable, production-quality draft implementing Kanah LLC's founding legal decisions. It is not a substitute for sign-off by licensed counsel and must be reviewed before publication.

⏸️ NOT YET IN EFFECT — the Service is free at launch. Troi does not charge fees or collect payment at launch, so there is nothing to cancel or refund yet. This policy is held ready and takes effect only when paid plans are activated — publish it (and switch on the checkout consents it describes) at that time, together with EU/UK VAT + US sales-tax registration, which the first paid sale triggers (not before).

Summary (plain-language — not a substitute for the full policy)

  • Cancel any time, easily. You can cancel a paid plan yourself from your account settings — it's no harder than signing up. No phone call or email required.
  • Auto-renewal. Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel. We tell you the price and renewal terms before you buy, and we send reminders before a renewal charge.
  • Free trials. If we offer a trial, we'll remind you before it converts to a paid plan, and you can cancel before then to avoid being charged.
  • EU / UK 14-day right. If you're a consumer in the EU or UK, you have a 14-day right to withdraw from a purchase — unless you ask us to start the service immediately and agree to give up that right (we ask this at checkout).
  • After you cancel. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for, and you have a window to export your data.
  • This policy applies once paid plans launch. Troi may launch with a free tier first; this policy takes effect when paid plans go live.

1. When this policy applies

This Refund & Cancellation Policy applies to paid subscriptions and other paid plans for Troi, operated by Kanah LLC ("Kanah," "we," "us"). It is part of the Terms of Service and works together with the billing section there.

Troi is free at launch. This policy takes effect only when paid plans become available. Until then, there is nothing to cancel or refund, and free use carries no charges and no service-level or availability commitment.

Plan details. When paid plans launch, the current plans, prices, billing periods, and any free-trial terms will be shown to you at checkout before you pay (and on a pricing page). If any plan is ever sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play in-app purchase, cancellations and refunds for that purchase are handled through the app store, per Section 8.

2. How to cancel (self-service — no harder than subscribing)

You can cancel a paid plan yourself at any time:

  • go to Settings → Billing (or the equivalent subscription-management screen) in your account, and
  • select Cancel and confirm.

Cancelling is at least as easy as subscribing — you do not need to call us, email us, or clear any extra hurdle to cancel, consistent with California's Automatic Renewal Law ("click to cancel") and similar consumer rules. If you have trouble, contact info@kanah.app and we will help, but self-service cancellation is always available.

If you bought through an app store, see Section 8.

3. Auto-renewal and pre-renewal notice

  • Auto-renewal. Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, and we charge your payment method (through Stripe) until you cancel. We disclose the auto-renewal terms — including the recurring price and billing period — clearly at checkout before you subscribe.
  • Renewal reminders. We send a pre-renewal notice by email before a renewal charge, so a renewal doesn't surprise you:
    • for annual (or longer) plans, we send the notice at least 45 days before the renewal date;
    • for shorter plans (for example monthly), we send a reminder a reasonable time before renewal. The notice includes the renewal date, the amount, and how to cancel.
  • Price changes. If the renewal price will change, we tell you in advance and give you a chance to cancel before the new price applies.

4. Free trials and pre-conversion notice

If we offer a free trial or introductory offer:

  • we tell you, before you start, how long the trial lasts, what it costs when it converts, and when the first charge will happen;
  • we send a pre-conversion reminder before the trial converts into a paid plan, so you can cancel first; and
  • you can cancel any time during the trial from Settings → Billing to avoid being charged.

5. EU / UK right of withdrawal (14 days)

If you are a consumer in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have a statutory right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days of entering into the contract, without giving a reason.

Because Troi is digital content and services supplied online, the following applies:

  • If you want immediate access, we ask you at checkout to (a) expressly request that we begin supplying the Service immediately, and (b) acknowledge that you therefore lose your 14-day right of withdrawal once the Service has been fully performed, or — for a service supplied over the withdrawal period — that you will pay for the portion supplied up to the moment you withdraw. This consent is how EU/UK law lets a digital service start before the 14 days elapse.
  • If you do not give that consent, we begin supplying the Service after the 14-day period ends, and you keep your full withdrawal right during it.
  • To withdraw, contact us at info@kanah.app (or use the model withdrawal form, where provided) within the 14-day period. We will refund what is due without undue delay, using the same payment method, less any amount for a service you asked us to start and that we supplied before you withdrew.

Nothing in this policy affects any mandatory consumer rights you have under EU, UK, or other local law (see the Terms of Service, mandatory local-law rights section).

6. Refund eligibility

Outside the EU/UK withdrawal right in Section 5, and except where a mandatory consumer-protection law gives you a refund right (which we always honor):

  • Subscription fees are generally non-refundable for the current billing period once it has begun. When you cancel, you keep access for the rest of the period you already paid for, and you are not charged again.
  • We may, at our discretion, issue a refund or credit — for example for a billing error, a duplicate charge, a service failure, or another good-faith reason.
  • Statutory rights come first. If your local law entitles you to a refund (for example for a service that is faulty or not as described, or under a "cooling-off" right), that right applies regardless of this section.

To request a refund or report a billing problem, contact info@kanah.app.

7. Effect of cancellation and data export

When you cancel:

  • Access. Your paid access continues until the end of the billing period you already paid for, then your account moves to the free tier (if one is available) or is closed, depending on your plan.
  • No further charges. Auto-renewal stops; we won't charge you again for that subscription.
  • Data export. You can export Your Content at any time while your account is active, and you have a window of at least 30 days after cancellation or account closure to export it using the Service's export tools, after which we delete or de-identify it on the schedule in the Privacy Policy. See the Terms of Service (suspension, termination, and data export) for details.

Cancelling a subscription is not the same as deleting your account. To delete your account and data, use Settings → Delete account (or the public deletion request page); account deletion is described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Purchases made through an app store

If you ever purchase a subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play, that store — not Kanah — handles your billing. You must manage cancellations and request refunds through that store, under its rules (for example your Apple or Google account's subscription settings), and the store's refund policy applies to that purchase. Cancelling in your Troi account does not cancel a store-billed subscription, and vice versa.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our billing model and the law evolve. Each version carries a version number and effective date. Material changes are handled the same way as changes to the Terms of Service (versioned, with advance notice for material changes). This policy is part of the Terms of Service; the Terms govern in the event of any conflict on a general point.
